Similar to your regular internet provider, a WISP, or Wireless Internet Service Provider, brings broadband internet connectivity to your home or business, the difference being that the WISP uses wireless networking instead of copper or fiber optic cables to connect you to the World Wide Web.  Just like the Wi-Fi you have at home, Wireless Networking can offer extended broadband access to the internet with suitable firewall security out into more isolated areas not covered by local cable or DSL providers.  A designated Hotspot is set up which provides subscribers with access to full wireless bandwidth with stable internet connectivity.

WISP's can provide high speed internet to areas not normally covered by broadband service, especially out in rural zones and out of the way little corners of land, like a strawberry stand or remote oil field.  Having an extended wireless network gives your workforce both much needed connectivity and additional service options like a Virtual Private Network (VPN), and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) allowing them to connect to the office while out in the field.  Being able to securely transmit and receive voice and multimedia communications over the internet is crucial for some industries and their personnel.  Voice over IP has come a long way in terms of providing the service originally promised in its initial launch years ago.  Since increased bandwidth and more stable technology platforms have become available, VoIP is now a standard option on many devices, both personal and commercial.
